2016 may well be the year of the snow cannon. A prolonged dry spell in the Alps has meant the delay of the traditional snows and in winters past there would have been absolutely gloom in the resorts. But snow quality conditions under-ski have been really awesome, better than any we can remember in the snow cannon-era. We have skied in may locations in recent days and if you hadn’t been reading the weather forecasts then conditions in December would feel pretty normal. Take Ischgl (shown above on the 29/12/16) – there is an off-piste snow covering and on-piste, the artificial snow generated during the cold (if dry) conditions has felt fantastic to ride on. We normally try to film in absolutely optimal conditions but had a great time riding the snow in Paznaun recently and will be back as soon as the skies open where we expect for some more of this.
